Redwoods Engagement Session

Ashley and Anthony decided they wanted to go all out for their engagement session and travel to the coastal redwoods, about five hours away from their home in Bend. They had just moved to Oregon from southern California, and a little road trip down the coast exploring southern Oregon and Northern California seemed like the perfect way to explore their new home. We spent a couple days running around in the redwoods and the beaches, and had the best time!

We started our day in the Jedidiah Smith Redwoods just east of Crescent City, where we stayed. The Jedidiah Smith Redwoods are my absolute favorites of the parks in the area. It’s seriously the best natural playground with giant fallen redwoods, bumpy dirt roads shaped by the trees, and endless streams and waterfalls trailing down through the forest.

We ended that day on a quiet, black sand beach for sunset. This is one of my favorite beaches in the area. I love the contrast of the foamy waves against the dark sand. When the tide goes out, you can climb out on the rocks and see the tide pools.

The next day, we woke up early to head to the Del Norte Redwoods, which sit right ton the coast to catch the fog before it was burned off by the sun.

For our last night on the coast, we checked out an overlook that sat above crescent city, and then watched the sunset on the beach while looking for sand dollars. I love doing these adventurous sessions before weddings or elopements, it’s the perfect opportunity to get comfy with each other, and makes your wedding day all that much more better.
